Chicken Manchurian


Today we go to China, I want to teach you how to make an original and delicious version of Chicken Manchurian. This traditional dish gives you a sweet and sour flavor and its just irresistible to my mouth. In this recipe you'll end up with crispy and chewy pieces of chicken with vegetables which I like to add on top of rice and personally add a bit more spice with my unique Pork Leg pickle which you can find also in my channel here: https://youtu.be/964C2WjEKCY


Cooking and preparing time 30 minutes

Serve 4


Ingredients

1 Carrot chopped in flower shape

2 medium small Onion in cubes

1 medium red Pepper in a inch cubes

1 medium green Pepper in a inch cubes

2 big cloves of Garlic finely chopped

0.5 inch Ginger finely chopped

1 tbsp Oil

¼ Salt

0.5 cup of Water

1 tbsp of Cornstarch plus Water to dilute


For the Manchurian Sauce

1.5 tbsp light Soy Sauce

1 tbsp Oyster Sauce

1 tbsp Vinegar

2 tbsp Ketchup

¼ tsp Black pepper


To marinate

2 (450g) Chicken Breast

2 Eggs white

0.5 cup of flour mixed with 3 tbsp of Cornstarch

¼ tsp Salt

¼ tsp black Pepper


How to make:

Prepare all the ingredients above.

First cut 2 Chicken Breasts into bite size cubes and put them into a bowl. To marinate add in 2 battered Eggs white, ground black Pepper, Salt and flour mixed with cornstarch then mix them to coat the Chicken evenly and keep aside for a minimum of 15 minutes.


To prepare the Manchurian Sauce. Into a bowl add in 2 tbsps light Soy sauce, 1 tbsp Oyster sauce, 2 tbsps ketchup, 1 tbsp Vinegar and ¼ tsp black Pepper. Mix them well and set aside..


To thicken the gravy, into a bowl, add 1 tbsp of cornstarch and ¼ cup of water, mix well then set aside.


The vegetables and Ginger, Garlic chopped in as it says in the ingredients section above.


To fry the marinated Chicken, heat about 400ml of frying Oil on medium high heat. After the Oil is heated well. drop the chicken pieces one by one so they don't stick all together. And fry it for 2 minutes without touching. Then, turn it over and separate them if it's stuck together. And fry it for 4 to 5 minutes. Meanwhile, keep turning them until you see the golden nice color. Keep heat on medium to high. After frying it beautifully, remove them from the pan.


Now heat a pan with a tbsp of cooking Oil. Add in Ginger and Garlic. Give it a stir for 20 seconds.


Next add in the Onion and the Carrot. Stir for 1 minute and green and red Peppers. Stir for 30 seconds.

Now the Manchurian sauce that we made earlier, mix it well for 30 seconds.


After the sauce is mixed well, put in half a cup of water. If you want more gravy use 1 cup of water. Mix well again and bring it to a boil.


Next add in the mix of cornstarch and water that we prepared earlier to thicken the sauce. Combine it quickly and cook it for about a minute until the sauce gets thick.


Now it's time to add in our fried Chicken. Stir until the gravy combines on the chicken evenly.


After the Chicken is well coated. Add in the salt to your taste. No need a lot because the Soy sauce we are using is also salty. Combine it well again.


Now, delicious sweet and savory Chicken Manchurian is ready. Enjoy it with hot steamed Jasmine Rice.
